Meet the Owner

Amanecer Eizner

There once was a tiny kitchen that existed down an alleyway, behind a tall wooden fence, covered in whimsical green ivy, marked with blue shutters. With sparkling eyes and a dream, the tiny hidden space became reality - with a vision of food, family, love, and community, the Hidden Kitchen began its journey!

This wasn't just A hidden kitchen, it was THE Hidden Kitchen. It was the universe requesting access to untapped creativity, for a chance to be taken on a unique idea, to step fully into something that had the potential to bring to existence a real life dream, my dream, and to unite a community around the thing that has always brought people into greater connection with each other... food!

It was true magic! The story of love, food, and community, began long before that. I was born and raised at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur where I grew alongside a nurturing community as they prepared meals for hundreds of people from all over the world. This profound experience, coupled with a vibrant Argentine family presence, set a standard of love for food, love for family, love for community, and deep care for culture that I vowed to bring into my someday livelihood. I knew I would one day prepare food that stood for all of those things.

I finished Cal Poly with a degree in hospitality and tourism. I left my restaurant job and created my own business making jewelry and clothing. This self-employed lifestyle freed up time and space to travel a little, and in June of 2018, my love and I took a trip to Sayulita, Mexico where we tried our first ever blue corn waffle! We loved blue corn and often made hand pressed tortillas prior to this trip, but our experience at the Blue Corn Mama Cafe changed our lives. We subscribed to a gluten free lifestyle back home, and so we decided to bring 15lbs of blue corn masa back to the US in our suitcases in an effort to put our very own gluten free version of a blue corn waffle to the test!

The Hidden Kitchen is a culmination of all if it. The Hidden Kitchen is love. It's joy. It's a place where connection is built, positive experiences are shared, and responsible food is presented in ways that create curiosity and lasting memories. The Hidden Kitchen is community. It's a safe place for people to learn, to grow, and to step in and out of their comfort zones.

I am so grateful to have you along for the journey! Thank you for being here.

With gratitude,

Amanecer Eizner
